DO NOT CHEAT THIS MOMENT. #in
Ray Lewis has been a controversial figure. However, no one can question his intensity, strength, fierceness, and longevity. That’s why I love this profile from Men’s Fitness back in 2008:
Watching Ray Lewis’s dynamic entrances at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium, you’d swear he was possessed. Well, he is. A devout Christian, he explodes onto the field, a tsunami of energy and passion. Here, in his words, is what it’s all about:
“When I’m doing all that [dancing], that’s me looking at God and saying how amazing He is. Its His stage. For me to walk out of that tunnel and give somebody hope, that’s Him. So when you see me make that cross, and then I come out, that’s blessing them. People ask, ‘How’s he got so much energy?’ My energy is found in my spirit. It isn’t found in my physical being. I’m not worrying about failing. Failing and getting tired, that’s not an option. The option is: How passionate am I just for this opportunity? I walk out in that stadium, they’re calling my name. I’m thinking about all those fans sitting up there. I’m thinking. This is another freaking opportunity, right now. Do not cheat this moment. Do not think about the first play. Don’t think about the end of the game and don’t think of the outcome of the game. Think about right now.”
